Durafil know the opportunities because we know the people

Drawing on decades of wide and deep experience, we can relate to anyone working anywhere within the textile industry. And people know that we will listen to them. So, they bring their problems to us.

Thread factory managers, fabric dyehouses, jeans developers, industrial engineers, apparel designers, wash technologists, quality control officers and operations directors – they all keep us up to date on what challenges they are facing in their particular area.

Durafil are at the centre of an international community of innovators and creative thinkers, who see problems as opportunities and always welcome new ideas. This provides our team with tremendous intellectual capital when exploring new concepts and establishing new standards.

Projects we have completed include...

Laser Resistant Thread

Problem:

Using laser rather than water- and chemical-consuming washes emerged as the new and sustainable way of distressing denim. But existing sewing threads could not withstand laser.

Solution:

Solution:

Leveraging our long-term close collaboration with synthetic fibre manufacturers as well as our own research into fire-resistant technology platforms, Durafil created laser-resistant thread that can be dyed and finished just like any other thread.

Zero-remnants Water-soluble Thread

Problem:

The water-soluble threads already available on the market oftentimes left residues on the clothing, causing a high proportion of seconds and huge losses through customer returns.

Solution:

Employing a proprietary technique for clean room spinning, Durafil developed a thread that without fail dissolves 100% in pure water. We also developed a method for checking every metre of thread for solubility and yarn purity prior to shipping.

Heat-disappearing Tacking Thread

Problem:

Tacking thread removal presented a major challenge to garment makers who do not employ a washing program, and thus could not use water-soluble tacking thread.

Solution:

In co-operation with our German engineering partner, our team incorporated heat-disappearing thread into the Durafil ecosystem. Offering complete reliability, this product makes it easy to remove tacking thread from non-wash garments.

Blind Hem Seam-welding

Problem:

Traditional blind hems rely on seams that only catch a few strands of the fabric, making them weak and prone to breaking. This is particularly costly in the case of corporate uniforms, where broken blind hems necessitate immediate replacement of the whole garment.

Solution:

Durafil developed a thread that fuses to fabric when heat is applied, in effect welding the blind hem in place. This technique is now standard procedure for the many global brands that use our thread.
